  • Ignition: delco distributor for a 56 golden hawk

I purchased a distributor for a 352 packard engine [56 gh] and it turned out to be a delco.I thought that all 56 gh were auto lite. The seller said that is was from a 56 gh .Has anyone else seen this.Thank You,Don PS I don't know what parts to put in it for points, rotor
    cap etc.

FWIW, all the junior Packards, Nash Hudson and Studebaker got Autolite distributors, starters and generators and Carter carburetors. The senior Packards got Delco distributors, starters and generators and Rochester carburetors.

As with any sixty-year-old car, stuff gets swapped around. I've seen '56Js with 320" and 374" engines.

I would only add that the Delco unit is of superior quality than the stock 56j Auto-lite unit....but it's also larger in diameter, so make sure there's enough firewall clearance in the Stude if you decide to use it.
