  • thinking of possibly selling flight hawk to restore 53 commander

I have been away for a while but I am thinking of possibly selling my flight hawk so I can use the funds to restore my 53 commander. what would be the best way to go about selling? any interest for flight hawk?

Ah well we could use a little more information to offer an opinion. Stock or modified, running or not, rust standard with overdrive or not or automatic. Pictures can save a 1000 words and generate some interest

Ads in Turning Wheels, one free ad for members. Craigslist; narrow in market but gives an idea of local interest. Feebay, Bring a Trailer are just a few that charge but have a broader market.

My guess is the response based on two sentences would be the very low end of the price scale. Pep things up to get what you need to continue with the 53.

    Best of Luck

List it on Ebay with a reserve and Craigslist for starters. You'll never get more eyes than Ebay. In either case you won't have to sell for less than your price, just be sure to add a reserve price on Ebay. Bob

Gosh, I have trouble keeping just one carb working properly! Beautiful car!

You know, I really do admire those people who have the mechanical genus to do this kind of thing. Volkswagen carbs on a Studebaker... who would have thought? Certainly not a mechanical cretin like me...

I suggest eBay with a good, honest description and a few pictures. Start with a very low opening bid to get the auction going and have a reserve price that you can live with.

It appears to be a nice Hawk. You just have to locate the right person for it. EBay has a wide audience. If you get at least two interested in the Hawk, you might be surprised at where the bidding goes.

THAT should definitely Pep up a 185, Two Rochesters? and a splitter Exhaust Manifold!

Nice Avanti Red (Maroon)! That has to be worth around $5000.00 to 7 at least.

I hope it's not one of those cases where you would keep it, or Burn it before taking less than about 10-12,000.00 Spent on it.

Just out of idle curiosity...How does the split manifold split into duals? Four into one and two into one??? can't be three/three can it? Very nice car though.

Wouldn't the Inboard Cyl.'s 2 & 3 be Siamesed together, and join #1 and 4 & 5 together into 6, then the Front 3 into the Rear 3, for Two Final Pipes?

'53 Commanders are definitely nice, but you have a real RARITY there! (and a great looking car)

I'd keep the Flight Hawk and sell the Commander!
