  • Avanti Apparel - From Granatelli Land Speed Record Runs

My name is J.R. Granatelli. Some of you may know me from calling Granatelli Motor Sports, as we have helped a few of you with Studebaker questions and supercharger help over the years. While going through my fathers personal affects I came across 2, never worn, authentic and original Avanti Team Shirts worn by the entire crew during the land speed record runs. I have so much memorabilia I don't really need these and I know to the right person here this could be the ultimate gift. If anyone is interested please contact me at jrgranatelli@granatellimotorsports.com

I wonder if the SNM would be interested in them.

I would think that the Avanti House/Avanti Museum and/or the SNM would be interested. I would think that for an individual to be interested in them, they would want to know the sizes and price.

I never thought there would be this much interest. We received roughly 28 inquiries for the 2 shirts. I really only wanted to sell one. My guys sold both while I was out of town. I am sorry this turned into a bidding war - that was also not my intention. Anyway they were both sold. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and walk down memory lane. I am Joe Granatelli Jr. Son of Joe Granatelli, Andy's eldest brother. Andy was the mouth and PR expert. My father was the mad scientist that created all these wild projects.

While this sounds like a commercial for Granatelli, my only intension is to make myself available to anyone that may need assistance. I wish I had more specific info on your cars. I lack in the Studebaker dept.

Always glad to see that a part of the Marque history is alive and well. Continued success.

BTW, a ton of them now have other name powerplants, etc. so you'll know more than you think.
