It would appear so. That is definitely NOT a Zip Van.

Says it has an Onan air-cooled engine, wasn't Onan an Studebaker subsidiary at that time?

I am pretty sure that is where the confusion started, the Mailster would probably have a Serial Number Plate on it's Engine that says: "Onan Division of Studebaker Corp." in 1963.

These do have a lot of similarity of design to the Zip Van though, look at the Triangular side windows and the windshield design. I wonder who did build them. They are neat little Rigs.

Craig's correct. Those were built by Cushman. I think they built some utility vehicles too. I remember a golf course or two that had these with a pick-up bed on the back.

My brother has one with the truck flat bed called a truckster. Handy little rig to have around. Made by cushman or as we use to call their scooters in the 60's a pushman.

According to the National Postal Museum, which is part of the Smithsonian: "At least seven different companies produced mailsters, including Cushman, which produced the mailster in the museum's collection." So this begs the question, who were the other six companies that produced the mailsters?

Here is a link to their website on this topic: https://web.archive.org/web/20090825...mailsters.html .

Calgary had a small fleet of those 3-wheeled Cushman utility vehicles with a pick-up bed used by the parking meter cops back in the seventies.

Or haul it inside a Zip Van,if it's not too tall.
