I am pretty sure that is where the confusion started, the Mailster would probably have a Serial Number Plate on it's Engine that says: "Onan Division of Studebaker Corp." in 1963.
These do have a lot of similarity of design to the Zip Van though, look at the Triangular side windows and the windshield design. I wonder who did build them. They are neat little Rigs.StudeRich

Craig's correct. Those were built by Cushman. I think they built some utility vehicles too. I remember a golf course or two that had these with a pick-up bed on the back.sigpic1966 Daytona (The First One)

According to the National Postal Museum, which is part of the Smithsonian: "At least seven different companies produced mailsters, including Cushman, which produced the mailster in the museum's collection." So this begs the question, who were the other six companies that produced the mailsters?
