Can anyone tell me what would be involved in installing a 63 and later saginaw box in my 59 lark ? Im planning on leaving the car manual steering. Thanks

I did that in my 59 wagon. Unbolt old steering & bolt in the new. Pickle fork & a few wrenches is all that I needed.59 Lark wagon, now V-8, H.D. auto!
60 Lark convertible V-8 auto

Also note that all 1961 to 1966 Larks and Lark Type have the Recirculating Ball Saginaw Steering Gear.
The easier to steer Manual Wagonaire and Convertible boxes are slower though.
All others, Manual and Power, are the same slightly faster Ratio .StudeRich

I did this to my 59 Lark and kept the old steering wheel.
The horn contact plate can be used from a 55, or somewhere around that year, and the bush and bracket assembly from later Larks, which will give you the use of a wire on the outside of the hollow steering shaft.

Thanks again everyone just finishing 66 c10 chevy for the wife ,paint done last week just cut and buff, install glass and interior. Then onto Lark. Ill be needing a few items like steering box etc….was able to donate engine and trans to another member which made me happy cause I really didn't want to scrap it.

You're very welcome Scott and once again thank you for the info on rear spring bushings and steering upgrade. I speak fluent chevy and pretty good early ford…..just learning stude… is there a Rosetta Stone cd for that? notice I didn't say app?

I actually have some Studebaker performance books that were self-published by a guy over 20 years ago. I can let you borrow them. They have a lot of information including differentials that will fit, potential coil spring replacements, etc. Let me know and I can send them to you.Scott Rodgers
