For Cars after 1956 a look at the Serial Number Plate should do it, it will be obvious that it was either South Bend, IN or Hamilton Ontario, Canada.
The starting Serial number groups for each Factory Vernon (Los Angeles) pre 1957, South Bend and any "C" Canada Serial Number codes are shown in the Body Parts Catalog and the Chassis Parts Catalog for each year range.
The Shop Manual information is very incomplete.

It would be very rare that a '53 Canadian built Car got into the U.S. we have and had, enough of our own. But as I said in Post #3 you could read that on the Serial Number Plate if it were Canadian.StudeRich

A guide through Studebaker's pre-1959 six digit serial numbers, X,XXX,XXX, the first digit was the series and the second for the assembly plant for all but Studebaker Champion. The letter "C" was not used to denote Canadian production prior to 1959.
