  • Interior: Dash back in the car. Getting pretty excited!!

My son came over this past weekend and helped me install the dash back in the ’55 President State Sedan. The car is gradually going back together. The padded dash appears to be gold in the photo but it is actually the same color as the steering column.

Looks good. I hope you have a firewall grommet where the harness passes thru.
    American iron, real old school
With two tone paint, it sure is cool

Its got 8 cylinders and uses them all
With an overdrive that just won't stall

With a 4 barrel carb and dual exhausts
With 4.23 gears it can really get lost

Its got safety belts and I ain't scared
The brakes are good and the tires are fair.

Tried to sell her, but got no taker
I"ll just keep driving my Studebaker

I love the design and lines of the straight windshield on the early '55 sedans. I own a '55 late model Prez State sedan with a totally different dash.

Is the single knob on the top for the wiper and is it electric?

It appears I had to "go advanced" in order to attach photos.

I do have the grommet but we are not done running wires in and out of the hole. It is a two speed electric switch. One of the pictures shows the control switch when it was being taken out and the other shows the switch with the new cloth covered wires while in the process of replacing the wiring. The wires can be seen at the very top of the picture of the firewall.

Donald Erickson of Lark Works supplied all the wiring and connectors as well as a treasure trove of information during this re-wiring project. He also built my dome light wring harness and the anti-creep and starter harness.

Lookin great! On such a huge undertaking, each task is a project unto itself. The dash project is about wrapped up, and time to move on to the next. Looks like it is gonna come out beautiful
