  • Other: 1955 Sedan Radio???

It looks like it came out of a late '55 President sedan given the gold color of the surrounding dash section. My question is that the face and buttons are at an angle to each other so would this radio have other model applications?

Its a late 1955 sedan/wagon radio, could be from Champion, Commander or President. Dashes were painted interior color. The angled face is because radios were carried over from earlier flat windshield models.

    Chris.

The late 55 sedan radio only fits late 55 sedans and is slightly different from the early 55, 55 C/K and 53-54 radios.

The angle of the tuner relative to the amplifier and power supply chassis is slightly different on the late 55 sedan than the other radios.

"Came out" as in... with a sawzall. Jeez Louise. That's some butcher job just to get a radio out.
Please don't try to get yours out that way. The welding required to get it back together would be daunting at best.

Thanks Roy.. That's what I suspected but held an outside possibility the buttons vs. face plate might allow for adjustment. This ends the option of obtaining a '55 Prez coupe radio.

          Back to the drawing board!

You could probably fudge it, if you had the other style of radio to copy the angle and attaching bracket.

The difference is fairly slight, but it does affect how smoothly the push buttons work.

I'm probably just going to get a sedan radio or figure out some sort of modern radio that can be accommodated without a huge project becoming involved. The car will be lightly modified as to be a comfortable daily driver. I'll be keeping you in mind when the decision comes next summer..
