  • Body / Glass: Trunk lock cylinder installation.

I have 1962 Hawk GT and I ordered a new trunk lock cylinder with keys. I removed the whole lock mechanism from trunk and then used a paper clip and key to remove the lock cylinder from the lock assembly. Me question is how do I get the new lock cylinder back in it's housing? The paper clip held the retainer down to get it out, but what do you use to hold it down while I get it back in??

I believe the install procedure is the reverse of the removal..

Just cock it a little on the middle of the clip and push the clip in with the edge and push.

I must have done something like this when I had mine apart on my '62 GT. It was extremely easy to dismantle and reassemble. I rearranged the wafers so it would work with a loose Studebaker trunk key I had (I think it was for a later Lark). Previously it would open with any key that fit in it.
