Some of you may have followed "Lark Parker's" step by step chrome finishing techniques on the Technical Forum in recent weeks. While looking through the M Series Parts Catalog today I spotted something of interest.
At the front of the book they provide instructions on how to note the finish on various parts (which was accomplished via a letter code at the end of the numeric code). While Dale (aka "Lark Parker") has spent a great deal of time perfecting his skills (and other people's cars in the process), it is ironic that Studebaker ignored this and used the following description "R - Parkerize or Oxidize". Obviously they have a different view of his skills! [:0]
They also use other uncommon terms including "Black Enamel or Japan" and "Udylite or Cadmium Plate".
Sorry folks, it has been a slow news day. [^]
