Just watched a '55 Commander Starliner go across the block at Mecum Monterrey. It was a pretty yellow and white BUT, it had been nosed, had the wrong interior, and a funky steering wheel. The announcer said that it was a 'high end' restoration and it did look good. The bidding got stuck at $22,000 and they shoved it off the stage to 'the bid goes on' area. I'd have to give it a good personal look before I bid that much on a 'restored' car; especially if obvious changes had been made.

A personal pet peeve that you see on all the car TV shows and read in magazines is the misuse of the word "restored." To me, restored means put back to the way it was. If it's not, then I think that it was rebuilt (and customized.)
