  • Bob Picard's Tanker

[)]Member Bob Picard of Alaska gave me permission to post this picture which I found to be quite intriguing. It's a shot of his Stude Tanker and Piper plane together in Alaska.[)]

Now that is quite a picture! It is great to see any old truck being used as the work horse it was designed to be.

The ladder is incorrect for the period, not to mention the satellite dish
And for that vintage of paint scheme, shouldn't it be a Taylor Cub?[?]

Now there's the best source of RACE gas I've ever seen! you'd be set for life if that thing is full of 104 Octane! [:0][]

Unfortunately aviation fuel is unleaded, unlike the race gas that is still available in leaded, at about the same octane.

Current aviation fuel is 100LL (100 octane low lead). It actually (still) has more lead in it than any auto fuel at the pump ever had.

I think we've already been here...

Note: I called the plane an L-2M when it was pointed out it was an earlier model...my bad. But all L-2s lookm pretty much alike. Won't happen again...
