  • Other: '53/54 C/K horn brackets and mounting location? Pictures needed

My '54 coupe project is coming along. It now has a rebuilt '62 289 and late '62/63 T10 4-speed. At the moment I'm trying to get the electrical things working. I have what I believe to be the correct Delco horns for the car (I opened them up, cleaned and adjusted the points, and I'm getting pretty decent sound out of them), but I don't have the horn brackets and I don't know where the horns mount (other than somewhere in the lower air scoop area). I've asked some parts suppliers if they have the brackets, but I can't tell/show them what they look like. Can anyone provide pictures of the horn brackets and where they mount?

    Thanks.

Not easy to get any sort of angle on pictures of the horn mounts. Here's the best I could do.
This first picture is from inside the right front wheel well looking at the lower air deflector from inside. Note the two cap screws and nuts side by side in the center of the picture. This is the back side of the passenger horn mount. Note the approximately 45 degree angle of the sheet metal.Click image for larger version

Perhaps someone who still has their project apart can provide photos of just the brackets.
The flat mounting bracket would be a simple fabrication if you can't find them. Just make certain you have good ground. I used inside/outside star washers under all the nuts.

          David,
          Your picture posting is perfect!
Obviously that bracket and the mounting position is different on my '53 Coupe. Would be interesting to know why.

The air deflector, horn and bracket are from a 54 sedan. I didn't think they would be different.

Thank you both for the help. I looked at my car and can see the 45-degree angled, 2-holed, reinforced area of the inner fender where the horns mount. So that solves the question of mounting location. The question of orientation of the horns is also solved from rockne10's pictures. I'm still hoping to get a better view of a bracket but I can probably make one from what I now know. As far as the horn wires, do they go up through the same grommet used by the parking light wires? That's what it looks like in some small pictures in the body section at the beginning of the shop manual.

That's where I ran mine, but my car was apart for over ten years so no authority there.
FWIW, I do note in the Chassis catalog there are two different mounting brackets for the horns; 520309 for Delco horns and 523278 for Spartan horns.
