  • How Many SDC Members?

I'm just curious. How many people are members of the Studebaker Drivers Club as of now?
My wife and I have been members since 1991 and have really enjoyed our membership. We actively participate in our local Stude club, the Long Island Studebaker Club.

I believe the number that is usually quoted is 12,500.

        I just joined the SDC 7-6-16 so may I assume I'm # 10,874?

The Ozark Trails chapter signed up one new member for SDC Sunday July 10th. Her paper work was mailed this morning. 10875?

Perhaps not. Keep in mind that we are losing members at a faster rate than we are gaining new ones.

              That's sad.
1963 Champ "Stu Bludebaker"- sometimes driver
1957 Silver Hawk "Josie"- picking up the pieces after an unreliable body man let it rot for 11 years from an almost driver to a basket case
1951 Land Cruiser "Bunnie Ketcher" only 47M miles!
1951 Commander Starlight "Dale"- basket case
              1947 Champion "Sally"- basket case
1941 Commander Land Cruiser "Ursula"- basket case

That's about 1,000 less than what I remember being reported at the 2012 International. We are fading away faster than I imagined.

I don't think the decline to anyone who has been a member for very long is much of a surprise. The reasons have been debated here and many other places time and time again.

                      Richard,
Thanks for the response. Somehow, I knew that you would find the correct way to come up with the answer.

By the way, I thoroughly enjoyed your talk at the Warwick meet. Many thanks.

Thanks. Had not intended the presentation to last 3 hours but the audience participation was good so just kept on!

                              Gary,
This seems to be the unfortunate trend that pervades the entire antique auto hobby. The hobby is, indeed, aging. I'm proof of that.
