  • Electrical: 47 Ignition switch wiring

    On the wiring diagram, the switch shows a B, R, and coil. On the switch that came with the car, there is Coil, Acc, and AMP. Can someone tell how these match up with the wiring diagram? There's a solid black wire going to the switch, a white and black one, and a coil wire.
    Thanks

    B=Amp... Battery power, (at Ammeter)
    R=Acc... Radio, (actually all Accessories when key is on)
    Coil= Coil.. (-) terminal.

      I'm also having problems, I believe, with grounding. I can't seem to get the floor starter to work without taking it out and wiring it backwards and my dome and dash light stays on even though the doors are closed and the pillar switch is off. Any ideas?

        First make sure the battery is connected correctly. These older cars used a positive ground system. Then remove, clean, and reconnect all wire terminals.
        Check the switch for instrument and map lights. It's the smaller knob inside the head light switch. Rotate it to the left to turn off.
