  • Old Superman series

I was watching some of the old Superman shows that were running on the Decades channel last weekend. In one of the shows from '53 the bad guys were driving a '53 Champion HT. Superman was holding the doors shut from the roof while interrogating them. In another '53 episode Perry White was driving a very nice '53 Packard. Nash cars seem to have a lot of slots in the early shows with Clark Kent driving a Nash Healy, Lois Lane a Rambler convertible, and the Metropolis police department driving big Nashs. It is nice to see a show that is not all Fords for a change. Seems Ford got the large majority of the movie and early TV shows.

I remember that show!.....You can tell it's a Champ by the 'S' on the 1/4 panel instead of a 'V8'

I think Jimmy Olson was driving a 52 that the brakes had been cut and Superman saved him just as the car was going over the cliff.

Loved the Rambler convertible Lois drove, only center section was a soft top, window frames and structure were fixed.
And always likes those 1949-50 Nash Aeroflytes!

I also remember the episode where Superman was on the roof of the '53 reaching down on both sides and holding the doors shut on the bad guys. I wonder if they picked a Studebaker because it was narrower in width than most cars of the day?

I remember that episode too! I think the car was earlier than a '52; I think it was a pre-bullet nose year. Poor Studebaker!

The very pretty Noel Neill (Lois Lane) from this series is alive and well at age 95 living in Tucson. She will be 96 LORD Willing on November 25, 2016.

In a very strange irony-- Lois Lane just died today. How strange to be on this subject on the same day.

Until 7/3 Noel Neill and Phyllis Coates the other Lois Lane in the series (first season) were the only two surviving cast members. Phyllis Coates is 89.

Noel Neill, the woman who first played the role of Lois Lane, has died. She was 95.

The actress's manager Larry Ward revealed the news via a Facebook Post from editor Jim Nolt, saying that Neill died in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday following a battle with a long illness, although he did not specify what ailment she suffered from.

Neill first appeared as Lane in the 1948 Superman film, and again in the 1950 film Atom Man vs. Superman, before moving on to the television series The Adventures of Superman.

Although she eventually stepped away from the role as Lane, Neill returned to the Superman franchise in 1978, taking on the role of Lane's mother Ella, and again in 2006 when she played Lex Luther's wife Gertrude Vanderworth inSuperman Returns.
