  • Brakes: Wheel Brake Cylinder

1949 2r5 P/U - Parts Catalog shows a different PN for front and rear cylinders, but that is based on cable emergency brake to rear cylinders. With a 4 spd trans and trans band emergency brake are the rear cylinders the same as the front?

    Thanks,

No not the same, I do not believe the E-brake type changes the Rear Wheel Cylinders unless someone has installed a 1 Ton rear Axle without parking Brake Cables, and with "Big truck" Brakes, then the wheel cylinders would be too large and not a match for the Front.

A 2R5 has 1 Inch front and 7/8 Inch Rears, BUT there were two kinds of Rear Brakes; self centering and self energizing with DIFFERENT shaped 7/8" Wheel Cylinders.

Are you looking in the R-5, 6 Section? The Studebaker R Series Truck Parts Catalog clearly shows you good pictures of your options on all of the Brake System Parts. Match the shape of the Shoes to your's.

What Rich said. The rear brake cylinders are the same 1949 thru mid-55. Fronts had early and late 2R designs.
