My June Turning Wheels says that Doug Tjapkes is racing his '63 R2 Lark at the FAST Drags in Martin, MI on June 16-17. That's all the info there is...

Just came home from Indy. Went down for the Goodguys Hot Rod Nationals. Took the PBW and Tomato but rained all day. Will go back tomorrow and see if we get to run. That's why I haven't given info on the other drags.

This next week end is the FAST or Factory Appearing Race at Martin, Michigan (Friday and Saturday). They have invited the Pure Stockers to come and run also (helps pay the bills as there are not that many in that class yet). So there should be two types of races: The FAST racers will run one and the Pure Stockers the other.

To my knowledge, those that will be there in the Pure Stock races will be: Peter Sant from Canada with the R 2 Avanti; Chuck and John Kerns from Indiana in their R 2 Avanti, Doug Tjapkes from Michigan with his new '64 R 2 Challenger; the PBW and the Tomato and I think possibly John Raab from Michigan with his '63 R 1 Lark (being converted to R 1 as it has dish pistons, etc.). There may be someone else that I'm not aware of. I do know Richard Poe from Wisconsin with his R 1 Lark is not planning to be there.

The original Pure Stock Race in Stanton, Michigan, is September 15th and 16th.

I went to the PSMCDrags in '01~ WHAT A BLAST!!!
I was lucky enough to give a certain R2/3 driver a lift back to the hotel Friday night 'cause he just wasn't up to ridin' in his truck after a day of beatin' up on some Detroit iron~ one of Sweet Pea's (my '65) finest moments, I might add.

If you've never been, you have to go someday~ you won't be sorry.
