Brake Drum Removal ?

Does any one know if there are any tire shops in the L.A. area that can safely remove the brake drums from my 62 GT Hawk ? I want to replace the wheel studs but don`t want to screw them up. Thanks

Dan, don't trust a tire shop to do this. You need to find a brake shop (NOT a chain store!) with the tools to do this. A quick call to the shop manager to ask how comfortable they are pulling drums off tapered axles will tell you all you need to know. If he says "Hunh?" you know you should keep shopping

Find a shop with the guys name on the sign. Forget the chain stores period. The longer the shops been around the better chance they'll have a clue about a tapered axle.

Hey Dan, if you want to take a leisurely drive south, Vista Brake is a great shop, and they do tapered axles a lot. I've known the owner for 20 years.

Thanks Guys, I found a brake shop about 1 mile from my house who has an older mechanic working there and he said no problem. Thanks again.[8D]
