You mean the small housing and gear assembly that hooks into the speedometer cable? If so, does your buddy run an electronic speedo or the factory cable style?

No, as mentioned, the drive gear which mounts on the tail shaft

If it uses the same gear as the Super T10 it looks like there are several sources to get them from, most for under $30.
