Looks like the same style and size. I have never seen one in a 56J without the push buttons, but that doesn't mean anything, other than maybe they are uncommon. I have a copy of Frank A's 56J Authenticity Guide, and will look tomorrow, if nobody else can help.

Both the manual tune 6 tube radio and the deluxe push button 7 tube radio were available for all models of Studebakers in 1956. The radio model chosen depended on what the original buyer of the car wanted when the car was ordered from the dealer. Bud

The vibrator is noisy because it is not inside its case. You can buy new, silent, solid state plug-in vibrators here:
http://radiosforoldcars.net/ But you should change the buffer capacitor also.
You can buy an even better (more robust, reverse polarity protected) solid state vibrator here: http://tech-retro.com/Aurora_Design/Accessories.html but you will have to hard wire it. You can mount it on the old vibrator base and plug it into the radio.
Change the buffer capacitor - the 1600 volt one, in all cases.Last edited by RadioRoy; 04-21-2016, 02:15 PM.RadioRoy, specializing in AM/FM conversions with auxiliary inputs for iPod/satellite/CD player. In the old car radio business since 1985.
