52676 Just picked up my mail today. I am so excited, I stopped by the local newspaper office and shared it with our small town editor. I look forward to the story in the paper. I'm not sure what I told him, I was so elated.

I would like to give a great big thanks to Ann Turner for making this happen for me. I've had my truck on the inside front cover (April 2008) and both my car and my truck on the outside back cover (December 2010 and May 2011) but until now the coveted outside front cover has eluded me. Those that know me well, know that I have been lusting after this issue for years.

My bucket list just got shorter by one item. :D:cool::woot::!!::drool:

Congratulations. Looks good. Sometime back I did a parody of "The Cover of the Rolling Stone." I hereby dedicate it to you. If I can find the recording, I will post it or send you a copy if you want it. Anyway, here are the lyrics. Steretch your imagination, and try to imagine Dr. Hook doing it.

Well, I'm a chance taker, I drive a Studebaker
Which is loved everywhere we go
It's Sunday drives and a whole lot of cruise-ins
We go to every Studebaker show
(Right)

We have a whole lot of friends and a lot of good thrills
But the thrill that I want to feel
Is the thrill that'll get ya when you get your Studebaker
On the cover of the Turning Wheels

(Turning Wheels)
Wanna see my car there on the cover
(Wheels)
Wanna buy ten copies for my mother, yeah
(Wheels)
Wanna see my Studebaker
On the cover of the Turning Wheels

From the first old wagon to the Last Avanti
And everything in between
Everybody uses the ride they chooses
Wheelbarrow to limousine

You might have trophies for the best in show
But it's not that big of a deal
Like the big earth shaker when you get your Studebaker
On the cover of the Turning Wheels.

Chorus

Oh, we like to go to a big car show
And see all the things to see
Pictures of work done on each car
And maybe its history

But the best thing you can have in your car
The one that can't be beat
Is a Turning Wheels copy with your car on the cover
Laying there on the seat

Chorus

Go to www.hawktalks.com and look at past issues of our newsletter. They asked me to write a series of stories for our local club. I'm up to part seven and am almost through with the series. They go into more detail of the story than the two parter I wrote for Turning Wheels and there are more pictures there. Thanks for your interest.

I got my TW yesterday and I showed the front cover to my wife. She just swooned. She really misses our '50 Commander. Great shot Jon. Love it. :!!:

Jon - I believe that I saw your car and spoke with you about it, once in California. Perhaps that was in Long Beach (Queen Mary). Were you at an SDC International there? That was quite a few years ago and I do not believe that your car was quite completed (are they ever?).

Might not have been me. I didn't drive it much until it got prettied up to it's present state. That was in 2010. I drove it to Reno and that's what the story in the May 2011 Turning Wheels was about. After that it sat for another couple of years until I could make it more road worthy. The trip to St Louis was really it's maiden voyage.

I plan to drive it to South Bend next year. We can rack up a few more states then. It's been off the road since we got back from the Route 66 trip. Hoping to have it back on the road again in about a week. So your question about are they ever complete is thus far true. I'm hoping to have it dialed in after this trip to the shop.

I've got to stop spending money on it. I've retired from my retirement job and don't really want to get another one. Gotta get used to having a fixed income.
