  • Engine: Six cylinder crank shaft machining car vs truck

I,m putting a 1964 OHV six from a car in a 1964 Champ As I was assembling it I noticed the bore for the pilot bearing is not as deep as the original truck engine was , The I.D. is the same . Question is will this be an issue ? Thanks

Yep, it will be. The '63 and '64 trucks used a pilot bushing in the crank like the V8's, but the cars did not. You can counterbore the crank to accept the bushing, but you'd have to take the crank out and have it done by a machine shop. The good news is that it is not expensive, and you have a chance to replace the crank seals and pan gasket, as well as check the main and rod bearings. Have fun, it's not bad at all.
