  • mopar electronic ign./gm module

I'm working on building a stude/mopar electronic ign. with a gm 4 pin module. the connector I have for the module has a condenser on it. The posts that I'm using, three different ones, do not show or mention a condenser. Does anyone know if I need one?- Jim

Is it OUTSIDE of the Dist. as in a Radio static suppression Condenser?

    If so ditch it.

Never heard of a Electronic Ignition with a Condenser, but I don't really know what you are working with.

So you plan to put this stuff in a '62-'64 Stude. V8 Prestolite Dist.?

Yes, Stude prestolite dist. The condenser was inside the dist. attached to the ign. module. The coil/heat sink/module/mounting brkt is from a '96 Chev truck. Dist. electronic parts from a mopar big block (440). I'm just doing this out of boredom to see if I can do it. I made a HEI ign. for a nail-head Buick about 15 years ago for the same reason, it worked! -Jim

A condenser on the 12v+ power lead of the coil will dump any noise from the coil and prevent interference.

Many OEM's have them ford dodge etc.
