  • Weird Factory Accessories

    I've been doing an inventory of my literature so I can dispose of it and ran accross some interesting accessory brochures. Amoung some the accessories shown in the brochures that I/ve never seen are:
    * 47-49 with a Fuel Pump Assisted Wind Shield Washer?
    * 47-49 A Hydraulic Bumper Jack?
    Not in a brochure but once saw a 1963 Lark with an electric powered vacuum windshield washer. Electric motor ran the vacuum pump which provided a variable speed wiper.
    Also saw a windshield washer for a 1938 Studebaker listed in a brochure and see a tube on the 38 wiper drives that are in front of the windshield ....wonder how all of that worked.

    Anyone have others to add-

      My 51 convertible has a cigerette lighter that you put your cigerette in the hole, push in the ring and it inhales and lights the cigerette.

        That is known as the "Draw-a-matic" lighter. My Land Cruiser has one, and I also have another with the instructions. The lighter we are most familiar with was actually the "cigar" lighter. The draw-a-matics were known as strictly for cigarette use and were also considered "safety lighters," since after a few seconds, if the cigarette was not removed, it would go out. At least, that is what the literature says. Since I don't smoke, mine has not been used in the more than twenty years I have owned it.
