ID:	1750130Of the couple of Avantis in the shop, a few have this thin 'streamer' type of body serial # plate.
I have also restored some others that have had this thin type of numbers. How common is this, and why?

And most of them do have that style, but, this isn't a fluke, and I have personally worked on maybe 5 that had this style of tag. Not from the same parts of the country either.

The narrow Tags must be from Avanti II's, I do not believe any Studebaker Avantis would have that in NORMAL Production, unless they were Factory re-Serialized transition Cars or similar.

Bez, to deal with Thumbnails you have to go into the "Go Advanced" Mode and Thumbnails/Posted pictures section to delete them with the boxed X.

Are they all in the 2600 range? Maybe they ran out of tags and made do with what they had on hand.

I'm not an Avanti guy so this is a shot in the dark......could the difference be related to Molded Fiberglass-built bodies versus South Bend-built bodies?

No, I don't think so Paul, my '63 Avanti, for example, has a MFG body and it has what we'd consider the 'normal' body tag.

Bez mentioned this on the AOAI forum, and it's a real mystery!.....I'd say that the original tag was lost and someone fabed up that thin style, but Brad says he's seen these on more than one Avanti!....So, once again, WHERE DID THESE THIN TAGS COME FROM......AND WHY??

                    A REAL MYSTERY!
