  • Paint: 63 Hawk underhood color

What should the underside of the hood be, doesn't seem to be body color? Looks like a dull gray primer.

The underhood color should be the body color. On the inner fender aprons you will find that many times the painters on the assembly line tended to get lazy & the color is found thin or non-existent the closer you get to the upper control arms of the suspension. Why many prior owners painted this area flat black, or in your case a dull grey primer is a question many of us wonder.

under hood should be body color and dont forget to paint the bottom of the front of the hood that you see though the grille flat black.

Very lightly painted around the edges better than the middle, and the hood silencer fiberglass pad is off center. Primer shows through more towards the middle, and generally you could see it as overspray also on the inside edges of the rear reinforcement. In other words, they didn't make second pass, and angle the paint gun back towards the edges from the middle.

My Hawk under-hood/inner fender paint sort of resembles the body colour yellow, but much duller than the body, almost as if they have used the bare minimum amount of pigment.

The unmolested cars I have seen don't have much paint on the under side of the hood. It looks like they made a pass at the edges and the rest was over spray. The cars with the slick paint are repainted.

That Trunk floor looks like Clear Coated rust!
It seems to have a gloss, it could be a rust converter similar to POR15 but clear.

If it is, some types of paint will not like it, you may want to test spray a smaller section or Prime or seal it first.

It also shows missing Seam Sealer around the Wheel Wells or spot welds from a floor replacement?

Yes , your are right, there are some replacements. Under the "rust Colour " is a white priming.

I'll try to polish it and then start with a rust priming (Ferpox 1-K Epoxy Primer).
