  • 1950 Studebaker Accessory Luggage?

I see you could buy matched suitecases as a Studebaker accessory in 1950.

Has anyone seen any of these, and I'm wondering who made them? Thanks

Studebaker offered luggage as far back as the 1920s for their "trunks," when real trunks were mounted on racks. I have several pictures incl those in the accessory manuals as well as separate 8 X 10 glossies.

Look on e-bay and you may find something close, you'd be surprised at what is there, also type in 50s luggage. here is a sample.

There are examples of the luggage in the 1950 accessories catalog.

Right, I have pictures of the luggage in my dealer's album, but can't tell who made it. I saw two mint ~1950 suitcases at a swap meet a year ago that I should have bought.

Brought this subject up a few times.....be interested to know what you get for a response. I am looking for my 1951 Land Cruiser, which I imagine would be the same.

I suspect garage sales and estate auctions are as good of place as any to find factory luggage. It probably would have been retained by the original owner long after the car it came with was sold.

Another great use of period luggage is to put your car related stuff in them, such as spare ignition parts, tools, booster cables, oil, rags, cleaning supplies, etc. and carry them in the trunk. Much better looking and more authentic than using cardboard boxes and the likes.
