I finally found an NOS oil pan for my 289 V8, and unlike my original (beat up past re-using; wonder what kind of roads it saw!!) it has a very uniform 'dimple' , pushed in right behind the front seal area on the bottom of the pan.
I'd automatically assume 'damage' and start pounding it out and making flat if it weren't NOS, in it's factory protectant cosmoline or whatever, and didn't look so uniform and no 'damage' witness marks.... Very strange.
Anyone ever seen one like this? (the 'bump" is UP into the pan, kind of hard to tell from the photos).
Or should I start some 'body work" before cleaning and painting it?
THanks!!
