Thanks for posting the photos, very interesting. Is it still running or drivable?

Were these Perkins Larks prototypes or a pilot run that didn't go anywhere after that?

BTW, I'll daydream that Perkins Champs would have been pretty cool.
1963 Champ "Stu Bludebaker"- sometimes driver
1957 Silver Hawk "Josie"- picking up the pieces after an unreliable body man let it rot for 11 years from an almost driver to a basket case
1951 Land Cruiser "Bunnie Ketcher" only 47M miles!
1951 Commander Starlight "Dale"- basket case
      1947 Champion "Sally"- basket case
1941 Commander Land Cruiser "Ursula"- basket case

They said it hasn't been started in 3 years, but it looks to be in perfect shape. How rare are these cars?

It's a '63 Lark (F3) Heavy Duty 2 Door Sedan, also known as a Fleet/Police/Taxi version of the Studebaker Standard 2 Door Sedan.

Pretty cool to see the Diesel version, complete with the Transtar Truck Diesel nameplate!

Its a funny world we live in.... less then a week ago I was researching Perkins engines in the automotive industry in hopes of putting it in a stude truck.

Reason I started down that line of research is that I work in the commercial fishing industry, I was walking the "yard" last week and a perkins diesel engine caught my eye.... first thing I thought of was a studebaker build

So Mark, what plan do the current owners have for the Lark? Are they trying to bring it back to life, find a new home or haven't got an idea what to do?

This topic just got me to thinking...many people have updated/retrofitted their Studebaker cars with 350 GM engines, but has anyone updated their Studebaker car with a diesel engine? Aside from the factory tested Perkins, there are many other diesel engines to choose from.

Yes, Torrey displayed this at the Atlantic Zone/AOAI meet in Gettysburg four years ago.

While Torrey's was a factory build, this '56 Transtar body was dropped on a modified Dodge Cummins 5.9 chassis.
