  • Electrical: Wiper switch

Will the original wiper switch with a 10 amp breaker that was on a 6 volt 1951 Commander work when the wiper motor is 12 volt?

Find out what the amp of the fuse is on a normal 12 v system..

BUT! Internal to the switch there is a bi-metal breaker that is used for parking the wipers. it may not be rated for the 12 v motor..

It is actually use to ground the input voltage to get the bi-metal breaker to pop and stop the current flow to the motor to park it..

Once it the wiper is parked, the bi-metal breaker cools and resets the 12v source.

Sebastian; are you sure the Bi-Metal Breaker you speak of is not the "Parking Switch" which is ON the Motor?

That would make more sense, that the wiper switch is just a switch like all the others.
