  • Wheels / Tires: Wheel centers: sources for logo's for custom hub covers ?

    Want to tee off from sweetolbob's very nice Avanti hub covers he shared recently here.

    I plan to use the same Mustang wheels on my "53 C/K.
    When time comes, I will need to fabricate Stude logo center caps , very much like Bobs.

    For logo artwork , I have considered:
    cloisonne (maybe key fob heads);
    centers parted out from old hubcaps;
    laser or waterjet Lazy "S"

    Would like to hear from those who have been down this road.

    Thanks in advance............

    With the further development of 3-D printers, price reduction as they become more commonplace, supporting programming and software, I see stuff like this becoming a very ordinary and uncomplicated procedure. Soon, all you will need will be a picture, type in measurements, select colors, hit a "print" key, and "poof!" Your item will appear before your eyes! Add mounting tape or the glue of your choice and that's it.

      I had a local trophy shop make me a couple of aluminum plaques that said Avanti on them. For your use I would think they could cut the lazy "S" several times into a single plate and you could cut them out and attach them to your wheel centers. The base plates come with a variety of colors on the surface and cutting the top revels the silver aluminum color underneath. They can make about any size you want.

      Stop by one and see what they offer, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Once installed they could be clear coated like the wheels.

      Good luck, Bob

        SI used to have stick-on emblems that very nicely fit Beltline wheel centers.
