  • Engine: Valve seals

I have read the Ford valve seals work great on the 259 & 289 v8 . Will they also work on the 232 v8 ?

Wayne you are thinking about "umbrella seals". they should be in a gasket set or you can order from stude vendors Luck Doofus

I prefer the Teflon seals with the steel jacket. Do a valve job and press in new guides. Umbrella seals on old worn guides will not do the trick Ford or otherwise.

Thanks for the information. The car runs real well and has 88k miles but if I let it idle for a bit and step on the gas I get some blue smoke . It uses about a quart of oil every 600 miles so maybe it is not worth the trouble . We have driven to 8 states with no trouble good engine .

232 V-8 engines use o-rings, not umbrella valve seals. Umbrella seals were used '55 - '64.
