The description of my Sky Hawk says that I'm from New York. I am, but it really should say "Long Island" as "New York" could mean anywhere in the state. In any case, nice surprise getting the back cover.

You have an excellent, nearly stock, Sky Hawk (one of my favorites).

Why should it say Long Island instead of New York? Long Island isn't a state, yet. Not that I do not think that LI and NYC should break off and form their own state. Your saying Long Island would be like me saying Hudson Valley, rather than New York. When I travel, I usually say upstate New York, because if you just say New York in most other states, people associate you with New York City.

True, but I live in rural NY and when I tell people I live in NY they automatically assume I live in NYC

I had a similar issue at the San Diego Aerospace Museum. The exhibit of The Spirit of St. Louis, which was built in San Diego, identifies the place where it took off as "New York." Manhattan? Syracuse? Binghamton? I told a docent that it was from Roosevelt Field on Long Island. I doubt if that information ever reached a curator, but it's an example of how LI's identity gets swallowed up into a much larger geographic area. Picky? Maybe.

Many people think my state, Rhode Island, is a part of New York.

Isn't Rhode Island just east of Cape Breton Island?

Do you just count Nassau and Suffolk Counties in your Long Island or do you also include Queens and Brooklyn, that are also on Long Island and are part of New York City? I ask because people seem to be divided on this.

Even though Brooklyn and Queens Counties are, technically, part of Long Island, as Gary said, they're part of New York City. Most Long Islanders consider Nassau and Suffolk Counties as Long Island. Also, most Long Islanders are very proud of their island. I'm a native Long Islander and am very proud of my home. I realize that we're part of New York State and our State income taxes help support the rest of the state.
By the way, Peter's Hawk is, indeed, a beauty.

As has been mentioned- nice ride.
It's good to see the odd ones once in awhile.

BTW- if you're ever in need of some '56 wheel covers-
I know a guy who has a set he'd sell...

Those 1957 wheelcovers are about the first thing that caught my eye.

I always thought it was an island. Since I am right now in New York, (228 W 21st St.) and no one has posted this Sky Hawk photo yet, I guess I'll post the photo of mine. I know, it has incorrect mirrors, but I have the right mirrors on a shelf and I'm waiting until I get a round tuit! Oh, I forgot, it is my avatar photo. Yeah, the side grills are from a '58 hawk. And the interior is not correct, all black pleated naugahyde,no mylar insert on door panels, pegboard roof (spray-painted black), and silver plastic roof bows both from a Chevy wagon from mid-60's.
