My wife and I took our '54 K to the NSRA show in Burlington Vt. this weekend. It's the farthest we've ventured since putting it together this summer. It's a beautiful drive up the Champlain valley, with the Green mountains to the east, and lake Champlain and the Adirondack mountains to the west.
I took these pictures Friday, was going to try and get all the Studebakers there. All I got were the ones I saw Friday, 'cause I forgot the charger cable for the camera. The pic.s here are the drive up, my car at the show, a '65 or 6? sorry, not sure, a '53 converted to a two seat roadster, a really nice Connie custom, and a '53. Saturday I saw a '52 pickup, a '53 K pro streeter, a '63 Avanti for sale, and an Avanti II. A nice '53 or 4 coupe went past our hotel last night, but I didn't see it at the show.
By our odometer we went 302 mile total, and got 16.6 mpg. The car ran great, but gave me a scare this morning. From the hotel we jump on I 89 and come down one exit to bypass city traffic on our way to Rt. 7 south. When we got up to speed the car started making a horrendous squealing noise. It took me a few seconds to realize it was the speedometer. We got off the exit, located a Kmart, and picked up a can of WD40. I pulled off the cable, put the straw from the can in the hole the cable goes in, and gave it a few squirts. Then we got back on the road, and no more troubles. I was glad I didn't have to unhook it for the ride back.

Route 7 is a beautiful ride. Used to drive my TR3 Triumph from Bennington to Burlington to see my son years ago. Thanks for the pictures! Incidentally , WD 40 is a great product but isn't intended for cables. It actually will promote failure as it's penetrating solvents will strip any lubricant away and the oil base will not last leaving the cable dry. Either graphite in liquid form or cable lube is best. Any motorcycle shop would have it and our local Walmart carries the liquid graphite. Again, thanks for your post!

Thanks TJ, I'll get some cable lube. We took 7 down to Vergennes (spelling?), then 22A to US 4 into Whitehall NY.
Rich, I was sure you could identify the Cruiser for me, thanks.
