  • Steering: Double-checking some torque specs for 65 Commander

I was looking in the archives and couldn't find the torque specs I need. I did check the shop manual, but want to double check torque specs. The Bellcrank pinch bolt - 60-65 ft lbs. Bellcrank bracket mounting bolt to front crossmember - 40-45 ft lb. Now, I also need torque specs for the 3 nuts/bolts that mount the steering box to the frame. Also, I had 3 washers that I "found" on the frame rail after I took the steering box bolts out. I assume that there was a washer between the frame and the steering box mounting bracket. Does this sound right? Thanks in advance.

None of those Bolts are critical like a Connecting Rod Bolt or a Head Bolt, so why not do what most Professional Mechanics and Dealer Techs do, tighten them until they are "Tight"?

You should see the impression of the washers on the Frame and possibly the Steering Gear.
