  • Drive Shaft: Advice on Changing 1941 Commander Land Cruiser U-Joints

Somewhere under the car there is a rattle so I was under there looking for it when I noticed that the front U-Joint is loose.

I'll order 2 new U-Joints from Studebaker International. Do you recommend that I change the rear transmission seal (where the slip yoke goes in) also?

Any special advice on changing these U-Joints.

I've done lots of them on 1960's type cars and trucks but never on a 1940's.

Any experience and wisdom are appreciated.

    Is it severely leaking?

No. It doesn't seem to be leaking.

You might want to consider getting the shaft rebalanced to avoid any unwanted vibrations.
