How many 36 cars were sold in Germany do you think???

I am doing another one of my post retirement items and going through my literature inventorying it and sorting out the duplicates (amazing how many I must have bought over the years thinking I did not have that particular piece)

I just inventoried a 1936 Brochure in German. It got me wondering how many cars they really sold in Germany in 1936.

This brochure is 36 pages and is in color with a lot of graphics, very nice piece which will remain in my collection. It was not cheap to produce for overseas markets.

Maybe they marketed to relatives that still lived in Germany??

It was renamed the 'Director' for those markets.

I don't know about '36, but Studebaker was in the German market after WW II. One of our members, now gone, as a penniless med student told of sneaking in to the auto show in Berlin and when he looked up a 1950 Studebaker Champion was right in front of him. He said it was the most beautiful car he had ever seen and he vowed to own one. After he became a MD he came to the US and the first thing he did was buy a 1950 Champion. He related that he drove it for six months before someone told him he had to have a driver's license.
