  • Please help identify this transmission

I have not been able to identify this transmission. Is is bolted to a 63-64 289 and goes to a Dana 44. It has a one piece driveshaft. I thought is was a flight o matic but the pictures of them do not match. The tail shaft does not taper it is straight with same width.

It does look like a Flight-O-Matic at least the Main case and it has a Stude. Oil Pan with the '61-'64 underhood filler, but that TAIL Housing does look a bit Odd. It could be an AMC or some kind of Ford or even an Ford FMX.

I think what will tell the story is the Left Side, Front not shown.
If it has a Vacuum Modulator, or manual Throttle Pressure Linkage like a FOM or what should help.

Also try reading the nameplate on the Left, do NOT remove the Paint though!

Have you driven it to tell if it has a 1st. or 2nd Gear Start?

This thing must have lived in a SWAMP!

OK, it must be one VERY dirty '58-'60 Flight-O-Matic with a '61-'64 Pan and Fill Tube or a '61-'64 then.
