You require a Production Order from the Studebaker National Museum to learn the Shipped to City/Dealer, Build Date, Optional Accessories installed at the Factory, Interior & Exterior Colors, Lock Codes, verify Body #, Serial # and Engine # etc.

The Body Tag shows 14G a ('53 Champion)
    C5... C = "C" Body Coupe, 5= Regal Trim
The 8334th 53 C Body welded up on the Body Line.

The serial Number Plate shows G1237450 the 1237450th Champion 6 built at the South Bend Plant (One of Three)

In the years prior to VIN Numbers when Studebaker was in Business, this is all the info available from a Serial Number.

    Here is their Website: http://www.studebakermuseum.org/

Welcome to the SDC and to the SDC Forum!

      Sure. Decoded thus:

      Serial Number G1237450:

G: 1953 model year Studebaker Champion
1237450: The sequential serial number for all 1953 Champions, beginning with 1197501.

      Body Tag: 14G-C5 8334:

14G: 1953 model year Studebaker Champion Body
      C: 5-passenger Starlight coupe, 120 1/2" wheelbase
      5: Trim Level Regal

8334: The 8,334th 1953 Champion Regal body built.

Incidentally, yours was one of 16,066 1953 Champion Starlight Coupes made. BP
We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

Yes, the 123 Serial sequence tells us it is not Canada or Los Angeles.

This is correct (of course), but I will add a little.
              For 1953 Champions (S/N);
              G119--- to G127-- South Bend
              G917--- to G927--- Vernon (LA)
              G745--- to G753--- Hamilton (Canada).
