  • Buffalo NY to St. Louis

Left Buffalo about 8:15 AM. Met up with Charlie and Nancy Davis at rest stop on I 90. Gassed up three times, getting a little over 16 mpg. GT Hawk is running good, 2100 - 2300 rpm, oil pressure about 22, temp 175, add quart of oil every 200 miles. Stopped for the night just before the IL border, should be in St. Louis about noon on Sunday. Like somebody has said on this forum..."You can't get the smiles if you don't do the miles"!

Too bad there's not a way to give you a thumbs up on here. Good journey.

Good on ya Peter. Sounds like the motor could use a set of rings, at 200 miles per quart. But long as you keep her full, no worries

The first Studebaker I bought back in 1969 was my 1950 Commander, which used a quart of oil every 100 miles. 15 quarts of oil each way to come home on leave. One of these days I'll have to give it a set of rings.
