  • Body / Glass: Any suggestions on protecting the plastic fender spear inserts?

The plastic inserts on the fender spears for my '55 Pres are vulnerable to having the mounting tabs broken due to fender leaners. A partial solution might be to stuff some foam between the insert and the fender to provide at least some support. Any other Suggestions???
    American iron, real old school
With two tone paint, it sure is cool

Its got 8 cylinders and uses them all
With an overdrive that just won't stall

With a 4 barrel carb and dual exhausts
With 4.23 gears it can really get lost

Its got safety belts and I ain't scared
The brakes are good and the tires are fair.

Tried to sell her, but got no taker
I"ll just keep driving my Studebaker

The best way is to keep your car away from any fender leaners, maybe you need a BIGGER Shotgun!
I would think Road Rash would be a lot bigger threat.

I used a piece of 1/8X1/2" steel flat bar to span from one screw to the other.

The reinforcement bar sounds obvious and logical. Thanks!

With my '63 GT I go the other way and leave the inserts a bit loose - when someone touches them they move a bit which surprises the culprit - have not had one broken yet
