Here are the facts as I know them -

It came from a Studebaker dealer who remained active in racing well after the end of production.

That same dealer built and modified R3 & R4 engines for personal and customer use.

Many R3 and R4 components were retailed by this dealer, some well into the 1970's.

It is aluminum and accepts an AFB carby.

    The casting number is 1558591.

I can't speak of the heritage of this particular casting/part number...
It 'looks' like a late style intake (wide flange casting).

What I see that is 'interesting' in the pic is the marks from the hold down clamps..
They aren't 'clocked' to be straight at all... (racers care about fast...not pretty).
The clamps also put in some pretty good divots on the flanges.
Either (a) the aluminum is real soft, or (b) they cranked it down real hard, or (c) the heat affected the clamping force.
Also note the 'plug' to eliminate the choke tube.

    Pretty neat piece!

"Pretty" no, but I would have made sure that the clamps were all straight...!
Or...at least at the "same" angle...
Nuthin worse than not paying attention to detail.

      P.s. - Oh yea...cool manifold.

Being that the heat tubes are not there, and it is plugged, I would say this is a Lionel Stone reproduction.

Probably a Roy Heckers Reproduction R3 intake.

Can we define Studebaker Dealer as used here please?

The original meaning was a Factory Authorized New Car Dealer who WAS selling New Cars, or at least Studebaker Factory Authorized Parts or Parts and Service.

I think you may be using the term loosely here, as in a Modern Day Studebaker aftermarket Parts "Dealer" who never Sold New Cars?

Notice where the OP (Chris) is located. Perhaps he is talking about Bert Needham, who I do believe was a Studebaker dealer in New South Wales Australia?

You are correct Paul, we know very little of what goes on out of the Home Country of Studebaker, and I know nothing of that.

rr1lark you are correct, it came from Bert Needham in Sydney many decades ago, and I share StudeRich's definition of Studebaker Dealer.

Will add some photos of the underside later today.

Nice manifold! The main question would be it has 'R3 size' outlet ports....Which I would guess that it probably does!

Also, the marks from the hold down clamps look worse then they are. We are having it media blasted in a couple of days and will advertise it then.
