A Stude buddy of mine will be listing NOS L&R C/K front fenders on e-bay later today or tomorrow. These fenders are in excellent condition, as I looked them over myself a few months ago.

They'll no doubt fetch a good price at auction.....If anyone on the forum has a definite interest in these fenders, PM me and I'll put you in touch with the seller.

How right you are Joe!.....These fenders do not have inner skirts.

I have an NOS one for sale as well. Problem is I can't remember if it is a right or left. I think right. It's in Omaha. I also have a pair of used ones that I took off my 57 Golden Hawk about 30 years ago. Typical rust on rears of fenders but repairable for a driver.

What ever happened to the company who planned on making rear fenders and insisted on calling them rear quarters? Did they ever actually do it - make new rear fenders?

My guess is, the right will bring more money than the left, since the rights seem to be the most scarce. Probably due to so many folks parking by ear in their later years ;)

Yep, you're correct about that Joe,.....there always seemed to be a few 'lefts' floating around, while the 'rights' were very scarce even back in the seventies!

It turns out that mine is a left. In the early 70's I put 4 new fenders on my 57 Golden Hawk. Newman & Altman was out of lefts back then. I had to get a fiberglass left

I am in Washington state with 54 Commander project. Might be cheaper to buy new fenders rather than try to fix these.
Any idea as to his reserve on them?

As a newbe here I don't know how to start a new post so sorry for changing topics....I need radiator hoses for a 56 Flight Hawk.
Any help with this appreciated.

Brian Curtis has a pair of C/K front fiberglass fenders. I think he wanted $500 for them. He now lives in Eastern Washington. PM me for contact info if you are interested.

The last set I sold were $3500.00 for a pair of 1953-62 N.O.S. steel front fenders.
1963/64 were slightly different.

Someone musta wanted them pretty bad for $3500. Last set I sold was mint, sold them maybe 2-3 years ago, for $1800. They still show up at SB for $900 or so, each, but as mentioned, the rights are much harder to find.

In 1971 I stopped in to Newman Altman for the first time. I spotted a pair of NOS front fenders for a 1950 Commander for only $125 each. Mine were perfect, so I left them there. As soon as I got home to Minneapolis I though that sure was stupid to not buy them, and I told myself if they are still there next year I'd buy them. A year later, believe it or not, they were still there, so I took them home with me. Boy, I sure miss those good old days. It was just fun going through the old factory building.

Fenders are off to the races! As expected the RH is in the
lead by quite a few lengths!
Interested what the final talley will be!

Stop and think about it fellow CASOs! I think the BIN price is a DEAL!

Edit to add: If it weren't for the shipping (and even that's a weak excuse!), I'd whack the BIN and then mark 'em up a grand.

Someone took your advice on the right fender.

Yes, these fenders were/are very nice.......They came with a NOS front valance panel (air scoop) for the '53-'55 C/K's, but he's keeping that piece of gold for his Speedster!

The 'lefty' is at $560.00 tonight.......Easy to see the difference in demand between the 'lefts' and the 'rights'.....Just like back in the seventies! ;)

Glad to see it finally get to $1000. My NOS left will be on the board in St Louis. Fender is in Omaha, NE

Right side is the gutter side and rusts sooner?

Right side is the gutter side and rusts sooner?

:) Actually, Rick; the right fronts bring more money simply because there are fewer of them and they tend to be damaged sooner in collisions. When Studebaker went out of business, there were simply more lefts remaining, driving up the price of rights. BP

So if a NOS is worth a $1000.What are a pair of rust free CA. fenders worth all cleaned up and epoxy primed ready to paint? Also have a pair of rear fenders.

SN-60
08-10-2015, 09:13 AM
The right front fender, as described, is worth $1000.......The left, at this point would be worth about the same. The rear 1/4 panels would bring about $800 for the pair. :)

Never knew UPS will pick up (at your home or business) something as bulky as a C/K front fender...BUT THEY WILL! (Not sure what the shipping charges were though.)

I wonder if UPS would have agreed to handle these fenders if they DID have the inner skirts attached?

funny how things are....in 1982 I bought a complete 57' GH for $100. just to put the NOS front fender on a GT Hawk........ I toyed with keeping it since the GT needed floors and the GH did not.....but I didn't like fins back then.....

Always 'hit or miss' at a car event....A well written for sale ad on e-bay, with pics, is probably the best way to move that fender. I think the seller pays e-bay 10% on the sale though! :(

Or, you could have done what the next owner of my 1957 Golden Hawk did - he removed the fins.

In case anyone else should want to ship two Stude fenders cross-country via UPS, I thought I'd let you guys know how much the shipping charge is.......Maine to Washington (state)........Approx. $190.00 for the pair.

Fastenal will ship packages along with the nuts and bolts on their delivery trucks, and I've heard they are much cheaper than most of the other carriers.

Greyhound is about half that. You can nestle the fenders together and they go as one package. Bus station to bus station, however. Not door to door like UPS.
