  • new owner looking for qualified shop

I just picked up a 54 commander, I have some issues that need to be addressed. wondering if there is a good shop that will do it right way with the correct parts in the riverside area. any suggestions/recommendations?

    Eric,
There's a Riverside in every state of the Union, so your location doesn't help. What are your immediate issues? I suspect any "good shop" is going to have a host of reliable customers already in the queue. Do you want it right away? Or do you want it right? With a shop manual, some tools and a little more info about your project, it's probably something we can help you accomplish "right away" on your own. Our cars were never built with rocket science, and well before the age of computers.

Welcome to the forum. With more specific location I am sure someone here can help you find a qualified mechanic. As Rockne10 said you may have to wait as good ones are usually busy ones. Am I right in thinking you want to find someone who will do it the right way rather than right away?

Welcome, if you log in and edit your location info to include your state, it will help you in the future as there may be many locals that can help you, some even in person!!

Sorry Eric about all the rants about where you actually are.
I am guessing you MAY be in Riverside, CA if so, there is an actual Studebaker Garage at Studebaker Parts and Service in Long Beach (562) 435-3782.

There are not that many people that actually understand older Cars and especially Studebakers, so you usually do not find them in your backyard.

And if you join your local SDC chapter, those folks are geologically close and no doubt already know the best places and people to assist you.

Closer to Long Beach is a place in Placentia, Ca:

I've bought a couple of things from him & talking with him he seems to be a good stand up guy.

Some So Cal folks have come all the way to Yuma to Jims Rod Shop where our '53 was restored. Many "snowbird" cars have been worked on by Jim.
