There is a 1951 Stude Biz coupe on EBay right now. It was My understanding that the 51 Commander was a V8 car. Did the Commander have a straight 6 option? Also the dash in the car looks to be a Champion gauge package. Will someone chime in and set this straight! Thanks all it' good to be back!

All 1951 Commanders were V8s (no six cylinder option).
I didn't see the eBay listing.
There were 3764 3 Passenger (business) coupes built. I think that one of them was a Commander (H-Q1 body code).Gary L.

He states that it is a "10G-Q4". That is a 1951 Champion Custom 3 passenger coupe.
He states that only one 1951 Commander 3 passenger coupe was built and he decided to build his own.
Of course, the 289 V8 would not be correct for any 1951.
He states that 2421 were built, not my number of 3764.
I do not know what the number is that he gives for a "VIN". If it is an engine number, that would no longer be applicable.
EDIT: He may now call it a Commander becauuse it now has a Studebaker V8.Gary L.

The body numbers would be a different sequence for each type/style/series.Gary L.
