  • Interior: Steering wheel modification?

Anyone ever modify the older two arm steering wheels to fit a mid 80's Chevy tilt column?

Also looking for the type/ year of steering wheel with a large enough center to make this happen?

Looks like you are on your own, but this will bump the post back up. There may be some kind of hot rod adapter to help you get started. I like the idea of a stock appearing steering wheel on the later column. Most modern steering wheels are just plain ugly.

Google "modify a steering wheel". There is an article on Hotrodders.com that is pretty thorough. It IS about making a smaller diameter wheel but it provides a good idea of how to do it.
The basic concept is to combine a modern center and spokes to an older wheel, or vice versa.
Lay the wheels out, decide where to cut the spokes of both wheels.
Grind the plastic down to metal, cut the pieces, fit and weld.
Use PC-7 or your favorite epoxy to blend the two wheels together.
