  • Packard Hearse

Attended a car show today... out of 75 entries, the only Stude/Packard there were mine, and this one I thought you might appreciate:

The owner's grandfather bought it new. The grandson just recently sold the funeral home business, but kept the Packard. It is in remarkable survivor condition.

I was into hearses for a while. Wanted to buy a couple of Packard Hearses about that age. Never did. Had a nice 51 caddy though.

Interesting. Appears to be the highest trim level Henney bodied Packard.

Very well taken care of! Wonder how many folks got their last ride in her?
Our local funeral home has a pristine 1940 Buick hearse, have had since new.
Always remember the story about Henry Ford getting his last ride in a Packard.

It's a good thing he sold when he did, because I understand funeral homes are a dying business. :>)

I like the color too, but it seems like an usual color for a hearse. I'm not saying they have to all be black, I see white and silver quite a bit, it's just that that's sort of the color I would expect to see on a bread truck or a plumber's van, not a hearse. It makes me wonder if maybe that was the one they used for discrete pick ups and they had black ones for deliveries.

Seriously, no matter how nice a car it may be, one needs to be a bit 'nutty' to restore and show a hearse! (IMHO)

Once I'm into a hearse you guys most likely won't hear from me any more.
