Sal called me, he found a guy taking pictures of a 62 4 speed GT off the side of the road. The guy was getting ready to list ebay, we made a offer to save him the trouble. Pics later.

I don't even hate the incorrect plaid seat inserts and the wire wheels are sort of nice on a GT. It'll never be a show car decked out like it is, but at least it looks OK with the modifications.

That looks like the color of my TR3, I believe it was F**d sunburst. It does draw the flashing red lights.

Those gaudy looking, tiny little wire wheels and tires must have been a BIG part of his $6200.00 expenditure, that was wasted on an otherwise original car, more desirable WITHOUT em! [xx(]

Nothing tiny about the wheels and tires (both bigger then stock) and not that big a part in the costs. I'll bet the wheels will help the bidding, not hurt, but I'll happily offer to swap stock wheels and caps for the wires.

Here is a summary of the tally of receipts which were
included with the car:
30. Hawk emblem
50. GT emblem
27. Wheel locks
339. Alarm
53. Trunk mat
301. MC and brakes
150. Exhaust
220. Wheel well moldings
543. NOS Grill
253. Hawk emblem/Antenna/Rearview mirror
180. Exhaust gasket install
27. Exhaust gaskets
150. Water pump and Therm housing/install
104. Gas send unit and speedo cable
132. Engine Trans mount install
162. Fuel pump/pan gasket/rear seal/PCV/freeze plugs
721. Labor for above
183. Horn and engine mounts
945. Front and Rear bumpers
46. Chrome tips
400. Tires
1280. Wire wheels

$6296.00 Total since 2005

Actually, over a fourth of the cost.

If I could get labor rates like that, I'd open a shop :)

$150 to install a water pump?

$180 to install exhaust gaskets?

How about those parts costs...

$253 for a Hawk emblem, antenna and mirror?

$339 alarm?

I guess it goes to show that how much is SPENT on a car is pretty much meaningless.

"$150 to install a water pump?"

$85 for the pump, a few bucks for the outlet and thermostat, maybe $50 labor, seems about right to me.

"$180 to install exhaust gaskets?"

I would not do it for that on a typical V8, the manifolds are ***** to remove, even if you don't break a stud.

"How about those parts costs...$253 for a Hawk emblem, antenna and mirror?"

Mirror is $70, emblems are $40, rear mount antenna is over the $143 balance today.

"$339 alarm?'

That's cheap for a most alarm systems installed. (I charged $200-$300 labor alone in my shop)

The $721 to install Gas send unit and speedo cable, engine Trans mount, fuel pump/pan gasket/rear seal/PCV/freeze plugs sounds ball park too. (It was about 14 hours labor)

"I guess it goes to show that how much is SPENT on a car is pretty much meaningless."

BTW, that's a summation of the bill, not every item replaced, nor labor done. Sal says both the labor time and rate are very typical on this car. If anything, that parts and hourly rate was cheap. i.e. the 3 hours @$50 hour to replace all those exhaust gaskets was a bargain, hell, I'd pay that rather then tackle it, and do the same for the pan, rear seal and the rest.
