"Every now and then you have one of those "surprise days,"
Mine came today when I stopped in on some of my NASCAR gear head buddies, "they fabricate anything." I called to let them know I was coming in case they were top-secreting. As I pulled into their drive, this bright shiny Studebaker was gleaming in the sunlight, as I pulled along side of it with my Champ, I recognized the signature of the NASCAR hall of famer "Bobby Allison." Wow it is super nice. It sit's on a Grand National frame and has the Buick turbo V6, when he cranked it up, it was a symphony for sure. He's owned it for quite some time. enjoy the photos---

He was getting around good. My buddy was helping him to fabricate a mirror drop bracket
he almost took the end of his finger off--- so I helped finish it up.It had been awhile since we had seen each other, I didn't know he had the Stude finished, he liked my new addition as well. He really likes his Studebakers.

StudebakerGene did they say that was his original truck?
I saw another truck this week whose owner said it was Bobby's truck.

I saw a short feature on TV about that truck a while back.

Bobby said he had bought a brand new 1950 Studebaker, he had it up until his bad crash. He sold a bunch of his stuff to cover medical costs related to the crash, his purchased new truck went as well. He had a pretty good "other" truck, which was transformed into what you see now.

I assume that the crash that you are referring to is the T-bone at Pocono (I think) by Jocko (a racing accident/event). If so, there is a Studebaker connection there. Jocko Jr. and Sr. owned Jocko's Speed Shop in Poughkeepsie. Jocko Senior worked on and drove the Larks (1960?) in the Petite LeMans at Lime Rock Park.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Your truck and Bobby's are both beautiful. I have always been a fan of all the Allisons. I was at Daytona when Bobby finished first and Davey finished second.

Bobby said he had bought a brand new 1950 Studebaker.

Bobby would have been thirteen years old in 1950. I knew and worked with him in the early 1960s and he wasn't driving a Studebaker truck during that period.

That's probably the one he was referring to, as far as how old he was when he got it, I'm not certain. Bobby has struggled with his memory since the crash, it sure is nice to see him cruising this nice truck around and making new memories---

His dad bought a '50 when new, I think that is the truck being referenced.

The truck was purchased from NASCAR driver Morgan Shepard.............
